Garden of Floating Balloons
A bright mixed-media piece imagining a garden where balloons grow like flowers and drift just above the path.
Published February 14, 2026 Medium Watercolor and colored pencil Palette Coral, Sky blue, Butter yellow, Leaf green Size 9 x 12 in
This artwork started with a simple question: what if flowers were light enough to float?
The painting mixes soft watercolor washes with colored-pencil details to create a garden that feels airy, cheerful, and slightly magical. The balloons are painted in different sizes so the path looks busy and playful, almost like the whole scene is taking a gentle breath.
My favorite part is the line of tiny leaves near the bottom edge because they help ground the painting while everything above them feels ready to drift upward.
